SOMAREALITY Raises Over €3 Million to Build the Future of Cognitive Insights

Back to News

SOMAREALITY, a Startup Wise Guys portfolio company, has secured more than €3 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to transform how we understand the human mind through eye tracking technology.

The round was led by Catalyst Romania Fund II, with participation from existing investors MT-Lab, RDY Ventures, Moondust Ventures, and Gateway Ventures.

For us at Startup Wise Guys, this is one of those portfolio milestones that is particularly exciting to share. Not only because of the size of the round, but because it reflects years of scientific research, product development, customer validation, and founder persistence coming together.

Understanding the human mind through eye tracking

Founded in Vienna, SOMAREALITY is building what it describes as the world’s first full cognitive insights solution based solely on eye tracking. The company develops software that can measure cognitive states such as cognitive load, attention, perception, fatigue, and overall human performance in real time.

The technology is non-invasive, hardware agnostic, and designed to work across a growing range of eye tracking devices.

While eye tracking has existed for years, SOMAREALITY is pushing the technology beyond observation and into interpretation, helping organizations better understand how people think, focus, learn, perform, and make decisions.

This shift opens up possibilities across a wide range of industries where human performance matters.

From research to commercial traction

What makes this milestone particularly noteworthy is the company’s ability to translate deep scientific expertise into commercial adoption.

Since launching its first cognitive biomarker in 2024, SOMAREALITY has generated more than €2 million in B2B revenue and established a growing presence across sectors including aviation, healthcare, professional sports, and scientific research.

The company more than doubled its revenue in 2025 compared to the previous year, supported by strategic partnerships with global eye tracking hardware providers and software distribution partners across multiple continents.

This demonstrates something we often look for in deep tech startups: the ability to bridge scientific innovation and real-world adoption.

The next chapter

The new funding will support three major strategic priorities.

First, SOMAREALITY plans to continue expanding its existing B2B business segments and strengthen its position in industries where understanding human cognition can improve performance, safety, and decision-making.

Second, the company will invest in longitudinal studies focused on measuring and predicting cognitive health and human performance over time.

Third, and perhaps most ambitiously, SOMAREALITY is preparing to expand into the consumer market.

As wearable eye tracking technology becomes more accessible and interest in personalized health continues to grow, the company aims to bring cognitive insights directly to individuals, enabling people to better understand how their minds work outside traditional laboratory settings.

Why investors are paying attention

For Catalyst Romania, the investment represents an opportunity to back a company creating an entirely new category of cognitive intelligence.

Rather than simply tracking behavior, SOMAREALITY’s technology aims to generate real-time understanding of cognitive processes, creating potential applications that extend far beyond today’s use cases.

From healthcare and research to sports performance and workplace productivity, the ability to understand cognitive states accurately and at scale could unlock entirely new ways of measuring and improving human performance.

More Than a Funding Round

Most technologies help us understand what people do.

SOMAREALITY is trying to understand how people think.

That is an ambitious challenge. For years, cognitive insights have largely remained inside research labs and academic environments. SOMAREALITY is working to bring them into the real world, helping industries make better decisions around performance, attention, fatigue, learning, and human potential.

The €3 million raise is not just validation of the company’s growth. It is a signal that investors see the opportunity to build an entirely new category at the intersection of cognitive science, AI, and human performance.

Few startups get the chance to define a market rather than compete in one.
