From Intelligence Software to Integrated Defence Systems: Quantum Systems Acquires SensusQ
SensusQ is entering a new chapter.
The Estonian intelligence management platform has been acquired by Quantum Systems, bringing together two complementary technologies within Europe’s rapidly evolving defence ecosystem. By combining SensusQ‘s intelligence software with Quantum Systems’ autonomous aerial systems, the acquisition creates a more integrated capability spanning data collection, analysis and operational decision-making.
For SensusQ, this milestone represents the next stage of a journey that began with a clear ambition: to help governments and defence organisations make faster, better-informed decisions in increasingly complex operational environments.
Building technology for one of Europe’s most demanding markets
Founded in 2020 by Marko Kaseleht and Villiko Nurmoja, SensusQ set out to solve a challenge that had long existed across defence and intelligence organisations.
Modern security operations generate enormous volumes of information from different sources, but information alone is not enough. The real challenge lies in connecting fragmented data, identifying meaningful patterns and transforming intelligence into decisions that can support critical operations.
SensusQ developed its intelligence management platform to address precisely that gap.
Over the years, the company established itself as a trusted technology partner, working with organisations including the Estonian Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. In doing so, the team demonstrated how software has become an increasingly important layer of modern defence capability.
Building before the market recognised the opportunity
Building a defence technology company has never been straightforward.
Government procurement cycles are long, security requirements are exceptionally high and early-stage companies often compete against established contractors with decades of experience. When SensusQ began its journey, defence technology also attracted far less venture capital than it does today, with many investors viewing the sector as too complex, too slow or too specialised.
Startup Wise Guys met the founders during this early period and became the company’s first investor. The team joined our Cybersecurity Accelerator, committed to building the company full-time and continued receiving our support through multiple follow-on rounds as the business matured.
What stood out from the beginning was not only the technology, but also the founders’ understanding of the market, the strength of the team they assembled and their conviction that intelligence management would become an increasingly important capability for governments.
“We backed SensusQ early because we believed in the team, the problem they were solving and their ability to build in one of Europe’s most demanding sectors.”
— Dag Ainsoo, Startup Wise Guys
That early conviction was tested over years rather than months. The company navigated demanding procurement processes, lengthy commercial cycles and a fundraising environment in which defence technology had not yet become a mainstream investment category. The team continued building, secured contracts and earned the trust of customers operating in mission-critical environments.
A new era for European defence technology
Defence technology has moved rapidly from a specialist category to a strategic priority across Europe. As governments invest in stronger, more integrated capabilities, software has become just as important as hardware.
That is what makes the combination of SensusQ and Quantum Systems so relevant: autonomous systems that collect information, paired with intelligence software that helps turn it into action.
For SensusQ, joining Quantum Systems creates the opportunity to scale its technology, reach new markets and build on the expertise developed over years of working in one of Europe’s most demanding sectors.
For Startup Wise Guys, it is a proud moment to see a company we backed from the beginning enter this next chapter.
