Inside Baku’s Startup Scene. Startup Wise Guys & SABAH Hub Demo Day Highlights

Back to News

The Startup Wise Guys team recently returned from Baku, where SABAH Hub hosted the Demo Day for the SaaS Founders Club program, run in partnership with Startup Wise Guys. Local and regional startups have been exposed to an international program including international mentors. swg brings with it a network of 500+ mentors, and 400+ startups from all over the globe)

This was the second edition of the program, designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan and help them turn early ideas into real startups through mentorship, workshops, and practice.

Over the past few months, 32 participants, 14 teams, and 18 individual founders have been developing their solutions in MedTech, EdTech, FashionTech, FinTech, PropTech, and other industries. Most of them are building B2B SaaS products, moving from idea to MVP and beyond.

‘The program helped me expand my network and meet new peers and mentors – from local view and knowledge and skills to regional and global ones. Also, I learnt and tested the b2b approach and refined my product, and have interest from corporates and SMEs.” – Program participant

In just two months, participants tested their assumptions with real customers, refined their business models, learned to present their ideas confidently, and began engaging with potential clients. All of this is a crucial foundation for 0-to-1-type programs.

On October 29, 10 teams pitched their solutions and got feedback from the investment committee from Sabah.fund, Caucasus ventures and Startup Wise Guys. The day wrapped up with a networking workshop and an intensive networking session.

We would highlight that cooperation with SABAH is a great experience and we believe, impactful for the local ecosystem of Azerbaijan. Huge thanks to our partners Nazrin Fataliyeva, Orkhan Abbasov, Rafig Alverdiyev and Aykhan Mammadov.
